We investigate the effects of perinatal events – natural or introduced by obstetric practices – on the development of the mammalian brain. These events include the arrival of the microbiota at birth, birth mode, birth timing, antibiotic treatment, among others. We are also interested in the role of epigenetics in the development of sex differences in the brain.
Welcome to the Laboratory of Nancy G. Forger and Alexandra Castillo-Ruiz at Georgia State University in downtown Atlanta.
Forger and Castillo-Ruiz are faculty at the Neuroscience Institute at Georgia State with long-standing interests in neurodevelopment and sexual differentiation of the brain.
We are located in the Petit Science Center in the heart of downtown Atlanta.
